Description The Videographer/Editor will play a critical role in visual storytelling for the University, its schools, departments, and units. Under the direction of the Director of Multimedia Content/Producer, this position will be responsible for producing a variety of videos, from short news or feature pieces to longer form videos, but always with visually compelling content that builds awareness, grows audiences and drives engagement in support of the University's strategic vision, mission, and brand. The ideal candidate is an eager, resourceful and creative video producer experienced in pursuing and developing original ideas to meet various marketing and communications goals. The Videographer/Editor will have experience with all aspects of video production, from concept to completion, including storyboarding, scripting, directing, interviewing, videography, audio, lighting and post-production. The Videographer/Editor will have a role working with a content team that is producing robust and integrated packages that bring together video, graphic and web design, photography and the written word. Partner with the Director of Multimedia Content/Producer to oversee all aspects of video pre-production processes including consultation with internal partners/stakeholders; development of project outlines and shooting scripts; creation of shot lists and storyboards; location scouting and selection; talent casting; creation of production schedules; preparation of gear requirements ; and selection of additional crew (as required). Produce short, quick turnaround videos that stand alone, are used for social media, or are part of multimedia packages that highlight University student, faculty, alumni or programmatic excellence. Work alongside a content team in envisioning and executing brand storytelling through video. Execute as videographer to carry out on pre-production shot lists and storyboards. Responsible for video, audio, and lighting equipment setup and operation; directing and leading on-location shoots; conducting interviews and ensuring valuable sound bites are captured; recording voiceovers as required; and capturing b-roll. Responsible for all aspects of post-production activity including video and sound editing to ensure captured video tells a powerful visual story that elicits a positive emotional response, inspires action, and communicates impact. Work collaboratively with designers, writers, and editors in the creation of graphical elements and copy that adhere to the Suffolk University brand. Ensure all videos meet the needs of a varying audience through the use of captioning as needed. Prepare video for multimedia formats including web, and other digital distribution mediums. Partner with the Director of Multimedia Content/Producer to establish and maintain processes and best practices for delivering finalized content and organizing the production asset environment. Manage and maintain video archive and file transfer platform(s). Create, organize and manage digital content management and storage solution. Oversee team of student producers/videographers to assist in the capture, editing, and delivery of digital content. Stay current with video trends and emerging technologies that would improve, help, or otherwise benefit the production workflow.
