Summary

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to provide management support, network design oversight, implementation, and integration & test activities related to the Combat Air Forces Distributed Mission Operations (CAF DMO) Performance Work Statement (PWS). The selected candidate will serve as an alternate design point of contact (POC) between the contractor team and the customer. In addition to assisting with activities associated with all contractor personnel, subcontractor and teaming partners, the selected candidate will also provide management, direction, administration, quality assurance, and leadership on technical matters.

The selected candidate will ensure delivery of all services as required by the CAF DMO task order while coordinating with a geographically separated team of employees and subcontractors to meet Mobility Air Force Training requirements.

This role is NOT eligible for remote or hybrid work and is executed on-site.

What you will do

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assists other lead engineers with overseeing and managing the technical aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
  • Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
  • Assists with technical solution production for CAF DMO standards development, verifying interoperability of simulators and equipment on the network.
  • Assists where required with integration and testing of the CAF DMO Aircrew Training System (ATS) platforms onto the Distributed Training Center Network (DTCN) per the Air Mobility Command (AMC) CAF DMO Flight Plan.
  • Work with other leads to assist with the maintenance of system security plans. Implementation and coordination of network policies, procedures and standards.
  • Enforces program security procedures
  • May be assigned responsibility for the management of associated staff.


What you must have

  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 6 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Experience creating designs, test plans, specifications, and detailed schematics for system architectures.
  • Knowledge of tools to conduct a cost/benefit analysis to provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • Ability to describe the process of testing design.
  • Experience with advising users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations.
  • Must be a US citizen, currently hold and able to maintain a Secret Security Clearance


Preferred Requirements

  • Previous experience managing a USAF distributed training network
  • Experience in Combat Air Force (CAF) operations and training.
  • DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II certification, or equivalent, (i.e. Security +)


Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
