- Identifies, cultivates and solicits Yale alumni/alumnae and friends who are capable of making major gifts to the University; creates and presents proposals for consideration according to donor's interest and financial situation. 2. Initiates and maintains contact with prospective donors. Visits specified regions to cultivate prospective donors. 3. Acts as liaison among the Office of Development, University Officers, various University departments and donors. 4. Solicits major gifts in a geographical region working with donors directly and working with volunteers, Yale administrators and other department colleagues. Develops, writes and presents proposals appropriate to donor's interest and financial situation. Initiates and maintains contact with prospective donors. 5. Develops financial solicitation programs and meet activity and revenue goals. Promotes positive donor relations. Raises major gifts to fund University programs and enhance development efforts of Schools and Units, with an emphasis on the priorities of the Yale Tomorrow campaign. 6. Devises and recommends cultivation and solicitation strategies. Determines and executes events and programs in support of development activities. Recognizes disinterested donors and devises strategies to redirect their interests. 7. Interacts with external contacts such as volunteers, alumni/ae, friends and other prospective donors to cultivate and solicit gifts. Proactively engages Yale Tomorrow campaign volunteers in a variety of roles, including identification, cultivation, solicitation and events. 8. Interacts with internal contacts such as Deans, Directors, faculty, officers and other Development staff to consult on University needs, formulates proposal strategies and identifies potential donors. 9. Evaluates various gift opportunities and giving vehicles; recommends the most suitable for a particular donor. Assesses success of development events and programs and recommends changes. 10. Keeps abreast of University events and disseminate University information to team members as it becomes available. 11. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Skill/ability 1: Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse constituents to achieve desired outcomes. Ability to understand corporation and foundation cultures and priorities. Required Skill/ability 2: Highly developed communication skills, professionalism, maturity, and good judgement. Required Skill/ability 3: Ability to develop in-depth understanding of academic and research priorities and needs as well as administrative policies and procedures. Ability to work consistently and effectively with academic and administrative colleagues and faculty. Required Skill/ability 4: Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to help facilitate team efforts in meeting goals and deadlines. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Required Skill/ability 5: Commitment to an inclusive workplace.
