DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker is seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer II to support our Aviation practice. The candidate should be a motivated self-starter who displays a passion for solving problems, collaboration with several offices, and meeting established deadlines. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of projects at airports throughout the region. This position offers the flexibility to work in the New Jersey (preferable), New York, or the Philadelphia offices and partial remote work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will support our growing aviation team in the northeast region. The candidate will be involved in planning, design and construction administration and support the inspection for airports performing some of the tasks below:
- Geometric layout of roadways, parking lots and airfield facilities
- Drainage design support for airfield, roadway and parking lot facilities
- Civil / site design and utility design support for airport building structures
- Preparation of technical specifications for landside and airside facilities
- Preparation of construction cost estimates
- Writing technical engineer's reports
- Perform Quantity Take-Offs
- Graphic support for client presentations
- Construction engineering services including shop drawing review, responses to contractor questions and periodic construction site visits.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
- 2+ years of professional experience in civil engineering
- Engineer-in-Training (passed the fundamentals of engineering exam or capable within the next 6 months)
- Preferable experience in design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D design, OpenRoads, and Microstation.
- Airfield civil design experience is preferred.
- Ability to manage and prioritize project assignments to meet competing deadlines.
- Attention to detail and effective decision making, organization, and editing skills.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and conceptual thinking skills.
The approximate compensation range for this position is $78,000 to $97,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.

The Engineering, Planning and Consulting business unit encompasses the complete life-cycle of planning, environmental assessment, engineering design, construction management, and facilities maintenance for projects in more than 38 countries on five continents.
