Position Specific Description
The Associate Accountant will be responsible for preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, customer buyouts, and reporting analytics. As well as assist in the monthly invoicing process, customer collections and month-end close activities, including preparation of reclass and accruals entries. Position will also serve as an accounting advisor in support of FPL Energy Services (FPLES) residential and commercial business lines and initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, demonstrate the ability to complete tasks independently with minimal direction, possess proficiency in accounting systems, be willing to delve into details when necessary, and have the ability to foster productive working relationships across the organization in a positive and collaborative manner.
General Responsibilities:
• Preparation of journal entries in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles including month-end close responsibilities
• Monthly review and preparation of FPLES account reconciliations to ensure overall accuracy
• Perform monthly account variance explanations.
• Adhere to FPLES accounting processes and internal controls
• Follows through on resolving accounting matters as they arise, including researching, analyzing and reporting on issues that affect the company, making recommendations for solutions, and implementing determined courses of action
• Support commercial and residential business lines by providing accurate and timely accounting conclusions in support of current and new product initiatives
• Prepares ad hoc analyses and reports as needed
• Project management skills, process improvement, inclusive of setting timelines/project plan, establishing assignments/priorities, and delivering according to project plan.

• Understands and applies appropriate internal controls to ensure accounting integrity of corporate financial data
