Position Description The Department of Neurology at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle is hiring two pediatric epileptologists to join the Division of Pediatric Neurology at Seattle Children's Hospital. These positions will include EEG reading, epilepsy consultations, and outpatient clinics. Responsibilities will also include shared supervision of adult and pediatric neurology residents. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, experience in epilepsy surgery, neuromodulation or ICU neuromonitoring. The Pediatric Neurology Division at Seattle Children's Hospital provides comprehensive treatment and diagnostic services for children in the WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) region. Seattle Children's is a 364 bed hospital with 44 PICU, 32 NICU and 20 Cardiothoracic ICU beds. The Division of Neurology currently includes 30 faculty members with a range of specialty interests who lead multiple subspecialty programs. We have an inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring Unit which is part of a well-established Epilepsy Surgery program. The Division is supported by 10 Advanced Practice Nurses, ketogenic dieticians, and research coordinators. Faculty are involved in clinical and preclinical local and multic-center research studies. These are full-time appointments and are Open rank (without tenure for reasons due to funding). The rank is commensurate with qualification and experience. Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Associate and Full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). University of Washington faculty engages in teaching, research, and service. This position will require active participation in clinical and teaching programs, and offer opportunities to participate in basic science and clinical research in epilepsy. The base salary range for this position will be $16,564 - $20,242 per month ($198,768 to $242,904 per year), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Startup, Relocation Incentive/Moving Allowance Administrative supplement for a defined administrative role, or Productivity Incentive. Title, rank and salary is commensurate with experience. The anticipated start date of this appointment is January 1, 2024. Qualifications Requirements include: MD, DO, or foreign equivalent degree, eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Washington, certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology as well as in either Clinical Neurophysiology or Epilepsy. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
