Proposal Engineer - Transformer Spare Parts - Military Veterans

General Information:
Hitachi Energy in Alamo, TN, is searching for a Proposal Engineer to join its team. This position will be responsible for sales of various Transformer related parts, working with both domestic and overseas facilities. Provide detailed proposals covering scope of work, clarifications, comments, pricing, recommendations to ensure that bids and orders received are at acceptable profit levels and meet customer's requirements for service & aftermarket parts.
Under general guidance of a supervisor, perform various proposal and cost estimating duties requiring the exercise of judgment and application of established industry best practices. Pursue initiatives to improve quoting effectiveness of the group and increase customer satisfaction.
Your Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze customer specifications & requirements for aftermarket parts. Coordinate input from other departments to develop bids responsive to customer requests. Simultaneously process information on multiple and varied projects and respond effectively to changes in priorities. Utilize engineering data, drawings, customer specifications, layouts, site photos and related information to prepare cost estimates, requests for quotations for purchase of components, evaluate supplier quotations and summarize total cost estimates.
- Write complete proposal documents and revise contract documents, as required. Compile data for reporting contract scope, terms, cost and profitability, to management. Provide feedback on the commercial & industrial market trends, barriers, competition and strategy to assist in development of new customers and proposals for this market segment.
- Attend meetings to exchange information and analyze contract requirements. Participate in investigating technical problems and establishing procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences. Duties may require some domestic travel.
- Ability to prepare and track shipped goods, create shipping labels, coordinate shipments and deliveries to customer site through most economical means of transport. Develop vendors and track on-time delivery of parts to shop and prepare them for on-time delivery to the customer. Manage pipeline of all parts, create purchase requisitions in SAP, invoice, and track all parts shipped for timely delivery to meet customer expectations for on-time delivery and quality. Handle customer complaints and address aftermarket parts issues in timely manner to keep high level of customer satisfaction and work closely with sales team to address any concerns and provide status updates on critical parts.

- Complexity of Tasks:Requires strong knowledge of the organization's products, understanding of drawings and related documents, and ability to prepare cost estimates. Interfacing with other groups requires ability to communicate effectively. Work is subject to general overview to ensure quality.
Your Background:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related field with 2 to 5 years of experience in various functional assignments. Alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and /or demonstrated accomplishments.
- Experience with utilizing programs, such as SAP or equivalent.
- Proficient in dealing with customers on business and technical matters.
- Knowledge and experience in reading and understanding technical documents and drawings.
- A working knowledge of Electrical Transformers and their associated parts.
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
