Visiting Part-Time Faculty Position in Environmental Science Description The Department of Environmental Studies at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a visiting part-time faculty position to teach 2 sections of our Introduction to Environmental Science course during the Spring semester to begin in January 2025. The Department of Environmental Studies is committed to providing support and mentorship of our visiting faculty to ensure future success within their chosen career path. The successful candidate will be provided with mentorship in the introductory environmental science course. There are no required service or scholarship expectations in this position. The Department of Environmental Studies at Holy Cross is a new, growing, interdisciplinary department that consists of faculty that span the breadth of the environmental natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. The Introduction to Environmental Science course (ENVS 117) provides an understanding of major environmental problems by studying their biological bases. Applied and basic material will be integrated in most sections. Basic topics include ecosystem structure, energy flow, biogeochemical cycles, population growth and regulation and environmental policy. Applied topics include human population growth, agriculture and food production, pest control, conservation of forests and wildlife, preservation of biological diversity, energy use, water and air pollution and atmospheric climate change. Qualifications Candidates must demonstrate commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate teaching as informed by current practice and scholarship in the field.
