Requisition Number: 2024 - 332 Business Unit: College of Medicine Department: Radiation Oncology 50000653 Reg-Temp: Full-Time Regular Position Summary: The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. Our research focuses on developing advanced computational toolkits for radiation biology and medical physics applications in radiotherapy. Our group's research topics include, but are not limited to: Developing advanced computational toolkits for radiation biology simulation, including microdosimetry/nanodosimetry. Developing and implementing fast Monte Carlo radiation transport simulations for treatment machines and biological media Developing and applying deep learning techniques in radiotherapy. Exploring multiscale modeling and digital twin applications in radiotherapy. The Postdoctoral Research Scientist will join a dynamic team of medical physicists and clinicians, participating in unique opportunities to develop and apply advanced computational tools for scientific discovery and to make a direct impact on patient care in a clinical setting. Responsibilities: Conduct research and develop simulation tools to quantify radiation-induced biological effects, such as DNA damage, cellular and multicellular responses, and tissue responses after irradiation using multiplatform simulation toolkits. Develop simulation programs incorporating fast Monte Carlo dose calculation engines, and Geant4/Geant4- DNA simulations. Write, debug, and maintain high-quality research code, and assist in deploying research results (where applicable) in a clinical environment. Present research at scientific conferences and publish high-quality papers. The successful candidate will be offered: Comprehensive training in radiation transport simulation, especially computational radiation biology and medical physics, to build and optimize multiscale computational toolkits for radiotherapy. Opportunities to work on some intrinsic challenges in applying multiscale simulation in medical domain, including digital twins. Strong collaboration with researchers and clinicians from diverse fields across different departments/institutions in University of Nebraska Medical Center and collaborating institutes. Competitive salary, excellent health plan and multiple other benefits. Visa support for qualified international candidate. Interested applicants should email a cover letter outlining their research interests, a current CV, and the contact information of three references to Ruirui Liu, PhD ( ruliu@unmc.edu ).
