Job Summary and Qualifications


The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for assessing the nutritional status of patients and designing nutrition programs to maintain or improve their health.  The CD also serves as a consultant within the Food and Nutrition Department and makes recommendations on menu options, snacks, and other aspects of nutritional provision. Your commitment to service, safety and professionalism will contribute to achieving the best experience for our patients.  


What you will do in this role:  


  • You will provide evidence-based nutrition counseling to patients on modified diets. 
  • You will conduct nutritional screenings and assessments of patients. 
  • You will collaborate with physicians to coordinate and implement nutritional recommendations. 
  • You will identify and communicate potential nutritional implications of medications and document this information in patients' records. 
  • You will notify the FNS Dietary Aides which patient foods are allowed and disallowed based on the prescribed diet. 

What Qualifications You Will Need: 


  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in dietetics, food and nutrition, food service systems management or a related area that meets the requirements of the American Dietetic Associate is required. 
  • Registered through the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required.  
  • Current state licensure (if mandated by law) is required.  
  • American Heart Association BLS certification is required.  
  • Applicant must be eligible and willing to sit for CDE exam within 2 years of hire date and/or first eligible exam. 
  • Minimum of 1 year of dietitian experience is required. 

Overland Park Regional Medical Center is a 340+ bed facility offering acute medical services to our patients. We are Johnson County’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level II Trauma Center. We have an Accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Center. Our hospital is a premier area destination for Women's & Children’s healthcare services. We offer the region’s only Maternal Fetal Health Center to care for critically ill mothers and their babies. Our hospital has an antepartum unit, a labor and delivery unit, and a Level III NICU. We have four emergency rooms, including a dedicated Pediatric emergency room and two freestanding ERs located in Olathe and Shawnee. Each year our colleagues treat over 45,000 patients.
