This position will support San Diego area training. The candidate is expected to perform their responsibilities within San Diego County. WHAT OUR TEAM DOES WITHIN THE ACADEMY Child Welfare Development Services (CWDS) is one of the Academy's workforce development programs. CWDS provides training and workforce development services including organizational support, technical assistance and capacity building to the Child Welfare agencies that serve children, youth and families. Workforce development services consist of development opportunities for new social workers, the existing workforce, supervisors, managers and executive level leadership as well as community partners and multi-disciplinary partners working closely with child welfare agencies. The CWDS Training Operations Team is responsible for the management of all training deliveries, both in person and virtually. The team consists of Training Coordinators, Training Operations Assistants, and Training Hosts who work collaboratively to oversee all logistics, plan, coordinate, and schedule training deliveries in Southern California. Responsibilities YOUR ROLE IN REVOLUTIONIZING THE WAY PEOPLE WORK The Training Host is responsible to provide general administrative support for classroom operations, both in the training room and in a virtual setting. THE WORK YOU WILL DO You will be responsible for supporting trainers and trainees and managing the training room environment. In the virtual classroom, run training in the Zoom platform, prepare polls and breakout rooms per trainer instructions, and manage minor technical issues. In the physical classroom, ensure the training environment is kept clean and organized daily. Set up technology (laptops, projectors, speakers, tablets) and ensure they are functioning properly before and during the training. Administer evaluations, pre- and post-tests, and provide assistance (as needed) in maintaining the integrity and security of evaluation and pre- and post-test data. Communicate clearly, efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner with Training Coordinators, Training Operations Assistants, and County Partners. HOW WE ACCOMPLISH OUR WORK This is a part-time and on-call position. Hours can vary between 0-20 per week. This position is hybrid and requires some telework and some in-person work. Candidate must reside in California or live a commutable distance from employment at time of hire. This position will support San Diego area training. The candidate is expected to perform their responsibilities within San Diego County. Some duties may include working with and/or exposure to sensitive/traumatic topics or material dealing with child abuse, elder abuse, and/or issues and scenarios related to mental health, substance use, or racism. The Academy is a project of the San Diego State University Research Foundation, which is grant-funded and serves as an auxiliary to the University. The Academy is based near, but not on campus, and do not have direct responsibilities for working with or teaching college students. THE SKILLS NEEDED Ability to work in a team setting and relate well to others within the Academy for Professional Excellence environment. Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels of the organization. Ability to interact effectively with learners or trainees, co-workers, partners, and professionals. Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures. Ability to display motivation and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to display organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and consistently meet deadlines. Ability to display good judgment and common sense. Ability to demonstrate a high level of cross-cultural sensitivity. Fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. A valid Driver's license and daily access to a personal vehicle; local travel is required in this position. Ability to learn office technology systems and operate standard office equipment; can display typing skills. Ability to troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests. Ability to plan and manage the virtual classroom environment and troubleshoot technological challenges. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS One-year of experience performing support services for an instructional program (preparing, producing, dispensing or storing materials, supplies and equipment); OR equivalent to one year of experience in ordering, purchasing, accounting or in office work related to technical materials, supplies, or equipment in a office environment; OR equivalent to two years of college with 16-units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment or related discipline TIPS FOR MAKING IT THROUGH OUR HIRING PROCESS You must apply through the SDSURF Career Page .
