RTX BBN Technologies is looking for an excellent candidate to start and lead as Reverse Engineer. The work is always challenging and changes from one project to the next. Projects at are generally short in nature, anywhere from 6 to 18 months in length, though some are longer, and consist of small teams requiring close interaction with customers and other team members.

What You Will Do

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Analyze systems to understand how they work and what happens when they break.
  • Disassemble and analyze binary code.
  • Develop exploits, implants, payloads, and communication stacks based on extensive reverse engineering, vulnerability analysis, and software development.
  • Develop unique networking protocols and communication schemes.
  • Operationalize our code by thoroughly testing, documenting, and integrating with sponsor systems.
  • Candidates should expect that they may be required to travel to a BBN, RTX, teammate, or customer site for meetings or other business-related activities.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, or physics and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related major minimum 3 years experience.
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government security clearance is required prior to start date. 

Qualifications We Prefer - Familiar with all, Expert in some

  • Reverse engineering skills using tools such as IDA/Ghidra/BinaryNinja.
  • Experience with assembly language (x86/64, ARM, PPC, MIPS, etc.).
  • Solid, creative programming skills using one or more of: C/C++, Python, or equivalent languages.
  • Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP stacks, wire-level protocols, RF communications, BGP, etc.).
  • Fuzzer development experience.
  • OS kernel development experience (e.g., Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android).
  • Network programming skills.
  • Hands on experience with system architecture design, prototyping, and technical project leadership.
  • Authored papers and proposals.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
