Job Overview



The Test Technician supports test operations by performing the setup of fixtures, components and machines for the engineering tests required in the development or evaluation of components, systems and machines.  Participates in the construction and maintenance of test roads and facilities.



Key Job Responsibilities





  • Plans and schedules work activities to complete assignments in their order of priority making the most effective use of time.


  • Builds and maintains test roads, courses and fixtures.


  • Assembles and disassembles machines.


  • Performs mechanical repairs and changes on machines.


  • Reads and interprets hydraulic and electrical schematics.


  • Uses computers for machine diagnostics and monitoring, communication via e-mail, recording of hours worked, and documentation purposes.


  • Provides expert operation of construction and mining equipment.


  • Performs welding when needed.


  • Performs basic machine tool operation.


  • Diagnoses and repairs electrical system failures on machines.


  • Additional reasonable requests/duties as required to fulfil the role.




Qualifications/Requirements





  • Associate’s degree in relevant technical field (Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, etc.). Solid equivalent knowledge and experience could be considered.


  • Construction or mining maintenance experience is preferred. 


  • Previous experience with operation of haul trucks, loaders, dozers, graders and/or other equipment required.  


  • Ability to weld required.


  • Strong mechanical aptitude.


  • Familiarity with electrical and hydraulic systems.


  • Ability & willingness to travel & work supervised or unsupervised in a remote location.

Physical Requirements:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills, the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information.  The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.

The Komatsu North America Mining Distribution and Service group is a critical part of our Komatsu global organization.  We, sell, install, service, provide parts and rebuild equipment, as well as provide digital solutions for our customers.  In the United States, we have a presence in 16 states across the US with 30 primary sites.  We have approximately 1,200 employees.
