About Our Program 

Applied Materials’ World Wide Operations Manufacturing is searching for a full-time Manufacturing Technician Intern to join our team in Summer of 2025. This internship will be in a cleanroom environment and will provide you with hands-on experience in electro-mechanical assembly and modular test. There is the possibility of converting to a full-time employee upon graduation from the degree program. 

 

Role Responsibilities:  

  • Perform a variety of routine electro-mechanical assembly operations, troubleshooting and repair. Adjust, align and/or perform "Go / No-Go" tests using test fixtures or non-diagnostic electronic testing devices. Identify and correct errors. Retest.  

  • Utilize routine work orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, parts, and wire lists, written and/or verbal instructions to build, repair and/or test electrical, electro-mechanical, vacuum, pneumatic assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components.   

  • Utilize test fixtures, electronic measurement equipment, leak detectors, and/or vacuum pumps to test assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components. Enter data on computer terminal, such as progress, work expense and labor details.    

  • Detail finished work. Receive parts and perform audits to ensure all necessary parts are available to perform build, test, and repair. Inspect parts for defects. Troubleshoot and improve processes.  

  • Maintain a secure, safe, clean, and healthy work environment. Attend required health and safety training, and follow safety and security policies, procedures, and practices. Promptly report accidents, injuries, safety hazards, or emergencies to supervisor or Safety department. Follow operating instructions, use protective equipment when required, and use equipment and materials properly. Actively strive to prevent accidents and injuries.  

  • Maintain cleanliness of work area and ensure proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock to prevent loss or injury. Detail finished work by removing fingerprints, etc. and then properly package to prevent damage in transportation or storage.  

  • Perform other duties and/or complete training as required by Supervisor.    

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Student must be pursuing an Associate degree of Applied Science degree program in Electronics, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field 

  • Student must be in good academic standing, with a GPA of 2.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.  

  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment, including wearing personal protective equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields, while in cleanroom settings 

  • Flexibility for rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by customer needs 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience in semiconductor processing or manufacturing 

  • Quick learner 

 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Various physical movements such as bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, and extended walking and standing 

  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs, where robotics and automation are absent 

  • Ability to distinguish between colors 

  • Ability to operate hand and power tools 

  • Ability to work in confined spaces 

  • Ability to work in a noise-prone environment (with consideration for noise sensitivity)
