Position Description
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join our dynamic and collaborative team. This position will be part of Dr. Peter Koos Lab in the Department of Quantitative Biology and Dr. Kenneth Changs Lab at the Functional Genomics Facility. The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting large-scale perturbation assays, including massively parallel reporter assays (MPRAs) and CRISPR interference (CRISPRi), to investigate the regulatory genomic elements (enhancers and promoters) that control gene expression across various cell types.
Position Responsibilities
Conduct large-scale perturbation assays (MPRAs and CRISPRi) to study gene regulation.
Collaborate with quantitative biologists and functional genomics scientists to design and implement experiments.
Perform genome-scale screening techniques and contribute to high-complexity library constructions using various gene transfer technologies.
Analyze and interpret data from perturbation screens, focusing on the relationship between regulatory elements and gene expression.
Train and develop sequence-based deep neural networks to predict gene expression outcomes.
Document findings and present results at lab meetings and conferences.
Stay current with relevant literature and contribute to the labs research goals.
Position Requirements
Education: PhD degreeMolecular Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, or a related field is required. Skills/Experience: Strong background in functional genomics, molecular biology techniques, and quantitative biology. Experience with CRISPR technology and high-throughput screening methods. Proficiency in data analysis and familiarity with computational tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R). Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for scientific research. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
