Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary The position has primary responsibility for management of Washington Universitys Workers Compensation program. The Workers Compensation/Insurance Coordinator acts as the universitys authority on Workers Compensation policies and legislative provisions, ensuring compliance with applicable Missouri law and regulations, and liaisons with and advises senior management, supervisors, employees and external Third Party Claim Administrator (TPA) in the reporting and resolution of claims. This position also supports other functions within the Insurance Department including gathering information for renewals, reviewing contracts and certificate of insurance for appropriate insurance limits, administering the property floater insurance program, issuing certificates of insurance, obtaining notary bonds, processing invoices, and assisting in the Universitys involvement in captive insurance activities. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Workers Compensation Duties Responsible for claim reporting and claim file management of all Workers Compensation claims through settlement and closure.  Develop, recommend to management and implement Workers Compensation policies and procedures.  Instruct and advise employees, supervisors, department administrators and payroll representatives on Workers Compensation policies, procedures and regulations. Keep current on Missouri Workers Compensation statutes, regulatory changes and legal rulings. Receive incoming Report of Injury or Illness claim forms. Review, investigate and make decisions regarding compensability of claims.  Oversee activities of external TPA and approve claim reserves and settlement of claims that exceed the TPAs authority level.  Work closely with TPA adjustors to ensure proper and timely processing and closure of claims.  Coordinate employee return to work and advise department of the anticipated recovery period and work restrictions.  Review work restrictions and essential job duty tasks and provide recommendations to department for accommodation.  Coordinate Workers Compensation temporary total disability procedures in conformity with Human Resources FMLA procedures. Provide occupation injury and illness information to EH&S required for maintaining OSHA 300 Log.  Performs other duties as assigned by the Director or Treasurer. Insurance Duties Assist in reviewing and compiling information from several University sources to complete numerous applications needed for annual insurance policy renewals. Review contracts and certificates of insurance to ensure limits are adequate.  Request certificates of insurance from University brokers for outside vendors per contract terms. Administration of Property Insurance Floater Program. Assist in universitys involvement in captive insurance activities. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director or Treasurer.
