(NEX LITTLE CREEK) - RETAIL OPERATIONS/SCHEDULING COORDINATOR - Military Veterans

Job Summary: Responsible for performing a variety of substantive retail functions involving: workforce management programs, information system, research, troubleshooting, gathering and preparing financial data trend analysis, account reconciliation etc. using various software programs.

Duties and Responsibilities: Under prescribed guidelines and through coordination with Workforce Scheduler and Management, organizes and prepares work schedules for employees through the use of an automated workforce management system. Ensures the appropriate amount of staff is available for each work shift and brings discrepancies to the attention of appropriate personnel. Processes and inputs associate availability and leave through the automated system. Prints schedules as directed. May run a variety of reports for management review.

  • Compiles Monthly Comparative Retail Reports by comparing current data with previous year's data, computes percentage of increases or decreases by department for use by management. Prepares weekly mark-down summary reports indicating actual percent of mark-down to planned mark downs. Compiles daily cash over/short report by register location based on computer run and Daily Cash Reports received, notifies managers so that corrective action might be taken on a timely basis. Responsible for the preparation of a variety of special and periodic reports relating to the retail operations.
  • Forecasts department payroll on a bi-weekly basis for all locations and the department. Maintains associates payroll records on a current basis which includes: data relating to pay changes, vacations, planned overtime, pending terminations etc.
  • Maintains price list of items on a current basis, checks extensions on purchases for designated locations and posts data to appropriate logs and ledgers, verifies balances with program produced data issued periodically.
  • Maintains a number of files relating to the office functions. As instructed compiles periodic and special reports based on records maintained and/or data collected, also prepares merchandise transfers based on specific information supplied.
  • Maintains in current status, and stock control records for the retail department. Posts withdrawals for warehouse by merchandise transfers, posts Report of Goods Received (RGRs) as well as goods returned to warehouse from locations. Posts retail price changes and notifies locations of such changes. Insures maintenance of adequate stock levels by entering the appropriate data into the computer in accordance with established procedures which results in the computation of pertinent stock sales ratios.
  • As required maintains number control of Inventory Sheets utilized by the various Exchanges and locations in the conduct of their inventories, assures appropriate numbers are distributed and returned to the accounting department where sheets are missing, contacts the appropriate department.
  • Produces a variety of correspondence and reports pertaining to the retail operations.
  • May direct the activities of several subordinate administrative retail and/or services personnel by making assignments, training new associates, answering questions, providing input for performance reviews.
  • Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor. Carries out regularly assigned duties independently in accordance with established routine procedures. Unusual or difficult problems are referred to supervisor for guidance and assistance. Work is reviewed by spot check for overall adequacy and accuracy.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

GENERAL EXPERIENCE 1 year of experience gained in administrative retail sales, technical or other responsible work which enabled the applicant to gain an understanding of merchandising techniques, methods, and skill in the area of product presentation and store operations.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE 1 year progressively responsible experience performing clerical or administrative support duties, or experience in a related area which demonstrates the ability to perform the work of the position.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE 1 - 2 years of related academic study above the high school level may be substituted for each 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelors degree for 1 year of general and 1 year specialized. Preferred knowledge of retail store operations.

The Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) is the headquarters for the worldwide NEXCOM Enterprise and is one of 11 commands under the Commander, Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP).

  • Navy Clothing Textile and Research Facility (NCTRF)
  • Ships Stores Program
  • Telecommunications Program Office (TPO)

With the exception of the Ships Store Program, the NEXCOM Enterprise conducts its operations as a federal non-appropriated funded instrumentality. As such, the command is self-supporting with 70 percent of its profits given to Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) programs and the remaining 30 percent reinvested in NEX buildings and equipment.

NEXCOM is a military organization and is subject to congressional legislation as well as oversight from the Department of the Navy. NEXCOM’s parent command is the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP).

The NEXCOM Enterprise boasts over 14,000 civilian associates in a wide variety of jobs worldwide, over 40 percent of whom are military affiliated as either family members or veterans.
