About the role
The Technical Product Owner serves as a collaborative liaison between the Strategy Office and IT; aligning with the teams' vision and direction, facilitating and evaluating proposed feature sets, and steering IT conceptual solutions and execution models for new business initiatives and new products. This individual provides thought leadership and execution excellence through the adoption and promotion of a "Customer First" approach to achieve high-value outcomes. This role would help to develop the high level IT Discovery Phase artifacts to support the Business Product Owner with business case development and approval.
What you need
- Practice in delivering best in class product experiences utilizing Design Thinking and Lean methodologies
- Experience/understanding in Vision/Roadmap creation, Portfolio/Program/Team Backlog creation, refinement and prioritization
- Demonstrable experience/understanding working with Cloud Technologies, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Modern API frameworks, Mobile Technologies, Data Analytics
- Delivery experience in multiple types of projects (e.g., custom build, COTS) and methodologies (e.g., vendor led, Agile, waterfall, hybrid)
- Comprehension of the Agile principles and methodologies and how they are applied in the workplace
- Knowledge of financial services, auto financing, and related lines of businesses
- Demonstrates delivery proficiency (experiences that produced positive measurable outcomes for customers)
- Problem solver who can clearly identify, analyze, and develop solutions
- Can clearly communicate complex ideas and technical concepts, priorities and motivations to business partners
- Proficient communication to influence the priorities of partner teams and leaders
- Promotes best practices; cultivates innovation and learning
- Works across teams to meet commitments
- Working knowledge of modern technologies and complex integrations into legacy platforms
- Demonstrates the ability to contribute to building a unique user experience (UI/UX) for our customers
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience - an MBA/MS is a plus
- 10+ years progressively responsible experience within Information Systems
- 5+ years of systems development experience
- 5+ years of software support experience
What you will be doing
- The TPO works under general guidance and consistently delivers on commitments
- Provide Customer/Technical/Business Process perspectives in a collaborative manner with the team as they progress on solution Discovery
- Work collaboratively with the larger business and IT Discovery team in crafting conceptual solutions that help to determine business case viability
- Develop proposed Business Capability model and initial view of MVP feature backlog
- Contribute and help to validate Conceptual Technical Architecture
- Evaluate different IT Delivery Models and recommend proposed approach
- Develop IT Resource Proposals for implementation and sustain phases
- Contribute to Timeline and Cost estimates as input into the overall business case
- Approach work in a Lean/Agile manner by reinforcing Alignment, Transparency, Execution, and Solution quality
- Consider enabling work with stakeholders such as Cyber, Cloud CoE, Engineering, Architecture, etc.
- Coordinate and lead third party demonstrations and evaluations through disciplined RFI and RFP processes
- Display proficiency in promoting a Design Thinking mindset when exploring problems
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Define and manage the product backlog
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility
- Write clear and concise user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Prioritize backlog items based on business value and stakeholder input.
- Collaborate with the TPO and development team to ensure understanding of user stories.
- Ensure the product delivers value to the users and stakeholders.
- Monitor feature performance and make recommendation to either remove, scale or refine features
