Position Description General Internal Medicine Hospital Medicine Program - Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Practice Positions The Hospital Medicine Program, part of the Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) and the Department of Medicine, is currently accepting online applications for up to 27 positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank on the Clinical Practice track. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW's Faculty Code Section 24-34 . While the anticipated start date is July 1, 2025, specific start date is negotiable and select positions may be available immediately. Candidates may be considered at individual or multiple sections of GIM--Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center (Montlake and Northwest campuses), and VA Puget Sound Health Care System. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. All positions will provide primary medicine services, consultative medicine and/or perioperative medicine services, with teaching on the general medicine wards and opportunities to interact with students and residents from a variety of departments. In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure. Only full-time positions (100% FTE) are eligible for H-1B and permanent residence sponsorship. Compensation Compensation for UW Hospitalists is broken into multiple components as described below. Total guaranteed annual compensation ranges from $235,008 - $315,000, depending upon rank and day/night split. Salary For HMC, UWMC-Montlake, UWMC-Northwest: The base salary range for this position will be: $14,334 - $20,417 per month ($172,008 - $245,004 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. For VAPSHCS: This position is paid directly by the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and receives no UW compensation. Please refer to VAPSHCS for information about compensation for this position. Other Compensation Other compensation associated with this position will include a pay supplement (TPS) of $3,084 -$7,084 per month ($37,008 - $85,008 annually) for work on the hospital medicine service. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan. Applicants must hold or be eligible for Washington State Medical License. Note: Board certification in Internal Medicine must be completed within two years after residency. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
