CDIS Director of Corporate Relations - Military Veterans

Job Summary:
This position will lead business engagement programs for the School of Computer, Data & Information Sciences (CDIS), working with departments of Computer Sciences, Statistics and the Information School to strengthen industrial affiliates programs. The successful candidate will work with others to develop connections between industry and CDIS academic programs, and develop or strengthen connections between industry and CDIS research programs. As part of the CDIS Advancement team, the position will lead corporate gift activities. The position will promote entrepreneurship programs and activities partnering with other units on campus and in the region. The successful candidates will work to connect CDIS stakeholders with community and industry partners to promote economic and social development in line with the Wisconsin Idea.
Responsibilities: Assists in the development and implementation of innovative, creative promotional campaigns and strategy in alignment with corporate and foundation-related institutional strategic goals. Represents the school or unit to internal and external stakeholders and contributes to the supervision of unit staff.

  • 30% Serves as a key unit authority to identify cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective and existing members and donors to support growth in line with the unit vision and values
  • 30% Serves as a lead fundraiser in the absence of a Director
  • 5% Supervises the day-to-day activities of unit managerial staff and identifies staff performance goals
  • 10% Directs strategic planning pertaining to growth initiatives and establishes unit objectives in alignment with the strategic plan
  • 10% Leads the development and execution of cross-unit communications strategies and promotional campaigns and materials to align with institutional initiatives
  • 5% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • 10% Provide leadership for entrepreneurial programs and events

Required Qualifications:
-Minimum 10 years in business development/corporate relations experience
-5 years experience in higher education environments
-Experience working with a wide array of small, medium and large organizations
-Experience presenting to executive level decision makers
-Must be able to travel, including overnights, approximately 10% of time
-Expertise with industry-standard tools and technologies (Salesforce or other CRM)

-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and foster a collaborative learning environment.
-Experience with account management
-Experience managing projects with cross-functional teams

This position requires 2-3 days in person on campus. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:
Minimum $110,197 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The typical starting salary for this position is $110,197 - $157,582 depending on qualifications and experience. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays and paid time off; competitive insurances and saving accounts; and retirement benefits
Additional Information:
-A criminal background check will be conducted on the selected candidate.
-Occasional night and weekend for special event work.
