Assistant Professor: Division of Hospital Medicine - Military Veterans

The Department of Medicine is seeking candidates to serve as Academic Hospitalists in the Division of Hospital Medicine at the University of Minnesota. These positions will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor and be eligible for appointment on the Clinical or Academic Track for Promotion. These faculty will engage in all missions of the medical school, engaging in the teaching and training of medical students and residents in clinical education as well as university courses. The clinical duties will involve attending on both the Hospital Medicine teaching and direct care services at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. This includes teaching, training and supervising medical students and residents during the provision of hospital medicine care within the University of Minnesota's academic medical centers. These duties will include evening, overnight and weekend responsibilities. The candidate will have a commitment to clinical/QI/educational scholarship; advancement within the institution will depend on demonstration of clinical and scholarly achievement. The division has a mentoring program for all assistant professors to support them in their clinical, educational and scholarship pursuits.
Required Qualifications
- Board eligibility or board certification in Internal Medicine or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics
- Demonstrated excellence in patient care
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Must have or be able to attain a medical license in the state of MN
- Must be able to pass credentialing at all applicable sites
Applicants must have the ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of VISA category while in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced training in Hospital Medicine, Clinical Informatics, or practice experience
- Experience and/or training in an area of emphasis within hospital medicine, such as point of care ultrasound, point-of-care procedures, or others.
