2023-2024 CORNELL INFORMATION SCIENCE TENURE-TRACK FACULTY SEARCH, NYC CAMPUS The Cornell University Department of Information Science (IS) in the Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science (Bowers CIS) has tenure-track and tenured faculty positions available. The IS Department spans Cornell's Ithaca and New York City campuses where nearly 40 faculty members are leaders in their respective fields within Information Science's interdisciplinary structure. Faculty hired for this NYC campus search will have their teaching and research based at Cornell Tech in New York City. Cornell Tech is a graduate campus of Cornell University located on Roosevelt Island in New York City. It includes the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute, a joint academic venture between Cornell and the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. Cornell Tech's academic environment couples fundamental research with practice, supports societal and commercial ventures alongside research and education, and encourages tight integration across disciplines in technology, business, law, and design. In addition to world-class academic work, a distinguishing characteristic of our research is that it engages deeply with external communities, organizations, and industry to address real-world problems and contexts that amplify the direct societal and commercial impact of our research. This approach is exemplified by three hubs in Health Tech, Urban Tech, and Public Interest Tech, which bring together researchers, practitioners, and communities. These connections support the IS department's mission to advance our understanding of how people and society interact with computing and information. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree by August 2024. Candidates should also have a strong commitment to engagement outside of academia in ways that foster significant commercial or societal impact, as aligned with the mission of the Cornell Tech campus. Candidates should submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae (CV), a research statement, and a teaching statement. The cover letter and research statement should highlight up to three of their most significant pieces of work for consideration. In accordance with Cornell Tech's emphasis of external engagement, the candidate should address prior accomplishments and future plans related to the commercial and/or broader public engagement and societal impact dimensions of their research, within a clearly identified subsection of the Research Statement. We also ask applicants for all faculty positions to share their experiences and/or approaches (past, current, or future) to fostering learning, research, service, and/or outreach in a diverse community. Applicants may choose to submit a stand-alone statement or embed the information in other parts of their application materials. There is a salary range of $76,200 to $309,900 for positions like this one at Cornell; this range reflects an aggregate of qualifications and disciplines across Cornell University. Actual salary offers for Cornell Tech will be based on education, experience, discipline, and relevant skills. Pay Range: $76,200.00 - $211,000.00 Pay Ranges: The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria: Prior relevant work or industry experience.
