Who We Are
We are seeking a Ship Integration & Test (SI&T) Electrical/Cabling Engineer to join our team supporting the Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) activities. As a SI&T Electrical/Cabling Engineer, you will be trusted to bring together a multi-disciplinary team that is geographically dispersed to provide engineering planning, design, integration, installation, and test of Aegis Combat Systems (ACS) onboard ships post-construction and during maintenance availabilities. This position shall ensure equipment will develop the Cable Impact Statement and Cable Run Sheets (CRSs) input to the TDP to ensure equipment will be cabled correctly to allow proper communications with other equipment and systems aboard the ships.
This position can be located in either Chesapeake, VA, Norfolk, VA, Washington, DC, San Diego, CA, or Cherry Hill, NJ. This role is contingent upon contract award.
What You Will Do
- Understand combat system (e.g. Aegis) specifications and the General Specification for Overhaul (GSO).
- Report to the Senior Design Engineer/Integrator.
- Determine the correct cable type required to support equipment being installed based on Aegis specifications and the GSO.
- Identify the proper connectors and back shells for electrical/cabling.
- Identify how cables shall be pinned internally.
- Develop and provide the Cable Impact Statement and Cable Run Sheets to support delivery of the TDP.
- Providing all required information to the Senior Design Engineer/Integrator to develop the Cable Block Diagram in the TDP.
- Assign cable numbers to every cable and maintain Configuration Management of the cables.
- Provide options and alternatives for cabling when required.
- Provide Power Sourcing requirements to support delivery of the TDP.
- Develop Power Point presentations as required.
- Lead or participate in ship checks to accomplish cabling/electrical surveys to support TDP development.
- Participate in meetings and phone conferences when required by the government sponsor.
- Assist in the resolution of cabling issues occurring on the waterfront during equipment installations.
What You Must Have
- Strongly prefer a Bachelor of Arts or Science (BA/BS) in the relevant field and 10+ years of shipboard electrical engineering or related experience (or 15+ years of experience without a degree).
- A US DoD Secret security clearance is required.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of the larger Navy and Marine Corps Sector.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in realted field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
