We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Job Summary

Dominion Energy’s Electric Transmission Planning & Communications organization is currently seeking a Communications Consultant to join our Electric Transmission Communications team. This expert level position will communicate the need and benefit of large electric infrastructure projects to internal and external stakeholders using a variety of communications, marketing and stakeholder engagement skills. Responsibilities include crafting stakeholder communications (presentations, direct mail, collateral, visuals, digital content, etc.) to keep customers and others fully informed on project status and new activities. This role will use marketing and negotiation skills to communicate to, promote and influence stakeholders regarding electric transmission projects.

+ The successful candidate will be responsible for directly supporting Project Managers, permitting and environmental representatives to lead communications and stakeholder management activities with property owners, community members (residential, commercial, industrial, and governmental) and other stakeholders.

+ The position continuously communicates the impacts and benefits of projects to public stakeholders using a full spectrum of communications and engagement strategies and tactics.

+ The person should have the ability to be flexible and handle changing and emerging priorities, should be adept at building rapport with internal and external stakeholders, and should be able to influence communication outcomes.

+ This role requires interpersonal and collaboration skills – being a connector between various departments and subject matter experts.

+ This role requires deft issues management awareness and ability to counsel project teams and upper management on communications approaches to enhance and protect company reputation.

+ This position requires a highly proficient candidate willing to be flexible in support of various other duties as assigned.

Other duties to include but not limited to:

+ Communicate the need and benefits of large electric infrastructure projects to stakeholders.

+ Develop effective communications and outreach strategies with executives, internal teams, legal staff, and external consultants.

+ Serve as a content expert and partner with departments like media relations and external affairs.

+ Act as the company spokesperson for electric transmission projects, preparing media releases and statements.

+ Craft and update electronic and paper communications to manage project narratives.

+ Organize and lead public workshops and open house events.

+ Facilitate discussions with community advisory groups.

+ Provide testimony to public utility commissions.

+ Develop and maintain strategic business partnerships.

+ Gather competitive intelligence for communication strategies.

+ Assist with legislative action and policy strategy communications.

+ Represent Electric Transmission in industry trade groups and governmental committees.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

+ Minimum 7+ Years directly related experience;

+ Expertise at development and implementation of strategic plans for effective communications with communities, key account customers, influential stakeholder groups, and political officials;

+ Strong communication, writing, editing and interpersonal skills

+ Experience with stakeholder identification and engagement

+ Excellent research and problem-solving skills

+ Fully adept at speaking persuasively, negotiating and developing rapport;

+ Strong ability to define problems, collect data and draw conclusions;

+ Demonstrated expertise at preparing effective presentations and written documents;

+ Proven ability to plan and organize work schedule independently;

+ Experience with handling difficult Customer Service situations-diplomacy, tactfulness and negotiation skills

+ Understanding of some technical/engineering aspects is desirable but not required

+ Proven leadership skills to lead teams and direct professional contractor resources

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Disciplines: Journalism, Political Science, Mass Communications or Marketing preferred.
