IT Associate Level 1 (Temporary to Permanent) - Office of Computing Information Services GENERAL DUTIES I.T. Associates perform moderately complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Associates work in areas such as development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include resolving complex technology problems and serving as a technical resource. They have considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may have supervisory responsibilities. I.T. Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines. This job is in CUNY's Classified Civil Service. The full specification is available on our web site at http://www.cuny.edu/about/administration/offices/hr/classified-civil-service/ccsjobs/ CONTRACT TITLE IT Associate FLSA Exempt CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION The Office of Computing Information Services (OCIS) at New York City College of Technology (City Tech) welcomes applications for the position of IT Associate. Reporting to the Helpdesk Manager, the IT Associate will be responsible for the coordination and dissemination of multimedia requests as received from the campus community. In addition to handling classroom audio visual equipment, digital displays and conference room setups and maintenance, the successful candidate will coordinate the multimedia and audio/visual needs of campus-wide events. The individual will provide supervision and disseminate problem tickets to Media Services technicians. Responsibilities of the IT Associate include: Deploy OS images and software. Install, support, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, handheld devices, printers, and other peripherals. Provide support for a variety of audio-visual equipment including but not limited to digital cameras, digital displays, projectors, hubs, SMART boards, e-podiums, and switching equipment. Supervise Media Service technicians, disseminate tickets, and ensure appropriate completion. IMPORTANT NOTE: Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirements. In addition, individuals who are in a permanent IT Associate title or who have applied for IT Associate, exams #2078 or #2079, are encouraged to apply and will be considered. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent An equivalent of seven years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: seven years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus five years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus three years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position Demonstrated English Language proficiency A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions. This job has three levels. To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form on technical issues with technical and nontechnical clients.
