The Intern - Compliance will perform analysis of compliance related matters of the corporation and assist in day to day operational aspects.

We are looking for students interested in auto finance, compliance risk, and reporting to support the compliance team, who are ready to take on stimulating projects and gain exposure to a variety of industry initiatives.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist in research, review, analysis and drafting of policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders (including Legal, Privacy, and Servicing) on various business initiatives; support the individual compliance teams with tasks associated to Management Reporting preparations; independent compliance reviews, enhancing compliance procedures and review activities.

  • Assist with other compliance deliverables as assigned.

  • Contribute to team effort by completing special projects as needed.

  • Participate in required Intern events.


Qualifications

Knowledge
  • Knowledge of compliance related concepts, best practices, and regulations and laws preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with corporate personnel, customers, contractors, consulting attorney's, and the general public.

  • Ability to express facts and ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

  • Analytical ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • High level of personal integrity, with the ability to professionally handle confidential matters.

  • Strong interest in policies and processes relating to data protection and privacy.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications software.


Experience

  • Currently pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in Law, Pre-Law, Business or related field is preferred.

  • Auto finance experience and/or privacy related experience a plus.

OUR BUSINESS & OUR HISTORY

GM Financial was founded as AmeriCredit in September 1992 and opened its first branch office in Fort Worth, Texas. On October 1, 2010, AmeriCredit Corp. was acquired by General Motors Company and renamed General Motors Financial Company, Inc. (GM Financial). In 2011, GM Financial acquired FinanciaLinx to serve GM dealers and customers throughout Canada.  In November 2012, GM Financial announced the acquisition of Ally Financial Inc.’s international operations. The majority of those acquisitions were finalized in 2013, with the remaining market, a 35 percent equity interest in a joint venture in China, acquired in January 2015.  In October 2017, GM Financial completed the sale of its European financial subsidiaries and branches as part of General Motors’ sale of the Opel and Vauxhall businesses to Peugeot S.A.

 

GM Financial provides auto finance solutions to 14,000 dealers worldwide, with earning assets of $93 billion at September 30, 2018.
