Requisition Number: F_240128 Department: English-1083 Description of Work: The Department of English at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Poetry and Poetics to join one of the nation's top-ranked Ph.D. programs in Creative Writing, which is the home of Prairie Schooner and Zero Street Fiction. The assistant professor will contribute to the department's undergraduate and graduate curriculum in the areas of creative writing and poetry, support and contribute to the department's research mission, and conduct service responsibilities. They will teach graduate and undergraduate courses in poetry, poetics, and pedagogy, contribute to literary and cultural studies within the department, and serve on undergraduate and graduate committees, supervising theses and dissertations. The successful candidate will join a diverse faculty of internationally acclaimed writers who have received fellowships from NEA , NEH , the Poetry Foundation, and the National Book Critics Circle, and whose work has been recognized by The New York Times, LA Times, Washington Post, NPR , the Best American series, and the O. Henry Prize. Our alumni have been winners of and/or finalists for the Pulitzer, the National Poetry Series, PEN America Literary Awards, and the Lambda Literary Awards. Published widely in notable literary journals and/or anthologies. Preferred Qualifications: At least one book of poetry accepted by a significant publisher. Secondary interests in any of the following: writing pedagogy, women's and gender studies, International/Global Poetry and Poetics, African, African American, Indigenous, Latinx, Chicanx, and/or Queer literature.
