Mechanical Design Engineer - Military Veterans

About the Position:
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for providing mechanical design engineering and associated technical support to Chevron�s Refining and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) assets. This role will be responsible for providing support for field engineering, engineering work package development and other engineering related activities. The role is part of the Mechanical Design Engineering Team at the Chevron ENGINE Center.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support day-to-day operations by providing strategic engineering support of the operating assets; this includes minor design changes, minor project scopes, long-term maintenance support and technical input into long-term process or reliability related issues
- Perform Management of Change for design packages and associated changes
- Provide support for quality inspection, checks and specification of new equipment associated piping
- Provide technical support for planned mechanical equipment and piping scopes occurring on site during routine, campaign maintenance or Turnarounds including development of Engineering Work Packages
- Support planning materials maintenance planning, materials planning and procurement activities as required
- Conduct minor work package design for Asset Brownfield Engineering related Projects, as well as providing input and conducting design studies in Opportunity Development
- Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) design reviews and coordinate multi discipline inputs
- Support mechanical equipment fitness for service assessments in accordance with API codes and standards, as well as providing support for Root Cause Investigations and other equipment related incidents
- Identify mechanical equipment risks and deliver solutions to enable safe operation of the plant
- Experience in supporting turnarounds, sustaining capital projects and plant execution support in large complex plants, along with project management experience, is highly regarded
- Leverage expertise and knowledge of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, Pressure Safety Valves, Marine Loading Arms and other related static equipment
- Mechanical design piping engineer for brownfield projects designs, modifies, and maintains piping systems, and ensures compliance with industry and company / business unit standards
- Experience with piping systems, including equipment layout, pump and piping routing systems, and fluid system analysis, clash analysis, stress calculation will be highly regarded
- Use initiative and experience to deliver practical layout solutions and designs to ensure project time and cost are met while maintaining operating asset integrity - monitor effectiveness of designs, scheduling of work, resource requirements and review compliance with project schedule and expectations. This will be highly regarded
- Bachelor�s degree in mechanical engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) from a deemed/recognized (AICTE) university
- Ideally 8 � 15 years of experience in an operational support role or similar for a complex refinery or LNG facility (preferred)
