Scheduled Hours 15 Position Summary The Fitness Instructor is responsible for the guiding group fitness classes that vary in format and levels. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Provides fitness instruction at assigned facility. Promotes knowledge of proper group fitness components, i.e., warm up, aerobic exercise, flexibility, cool down, proper form and alignment, etc. Motivates and instructs participants through exercises and routines. Prepares workouts/choreography for fitness classes. Serves as an advocate for fitness and healthy lifestyles at WashU. Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions: Job Location/Working Conditions Ability to travel to various on- and off-campus locations. Availability to work both weekday and weekend shifts. Physical Effort Typically standing or walking. Typically bending, crouching, stooping. Certifications: First Aid CPR/AED - American Red Cross, Group Fitness Certification - Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), Group Fitness Instructor - American Council on Exercise (ACE) Work Experience: No specific work experience is required for this position. Skills: Not Applicable Driver's License: A driver's license is not required for this position. Work Experience: Instructional (2 Years) Skills: Coaching Techniques, Communication, Exercise Instruction, Fitness Coaching, Fitness Education, Group Fitness Instruction, Presenting to Groups, Recreation Management, Wellness Programs Grade G12-H Salary Range $29.96 - $47.92 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
