Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track_College of Pharmacy, Occupational Therapy - Military Veterans

Summary of Position:
The University of Minnesota, College of Pharmacy-Program in Occupational Therapy is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor for the Twin Cities or Rochester campus in their ACOTE accredited Occupational Therapy program.

The University of Minnesota's Occupational Therapy (OT) program is one of the oldest OT programs in the United States. It is the only public doctoralâ level OT program in Minnesota and is one program with two performance sites - Rochester and Minneapolis. Our graduates use a science-driven, evidence-based approach to help children and adults who have physical, cognitive, emotional, social or environmental impairments participate in activities that they value, achieve life goals, and live as meaningfully as possible.

The position requires instruction and guidance of students in face-to-face, hybrid and remote learning environments; - with the expectation that the candidate will teach students in both locations - Rochester and Minneapolis.

Appointment and salary

Full-time (12 month) Assistant Professor (9403), Tenure-track based on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities or Rochester campus.
Salary and rank commensurate with experience and qualifications

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Research (40-60% )
Design, initiate, and carry out publishable research in occupational therapy
Secure funding to support scholarship
Contribute to the program's scholarship agenda

Teaching (25-40%)
Mentor and teach PhD and entry-level occupational therapy doctoral students using traditional and hybrid approaches to learning
Teach in assigned core content areas within the curriculum following ACOTE standards and expectations.
Design and create innovative courses or learning materials.
Prepare educational experiences to structure optimal learning of Occupational Therapy Doctoral students including course objectives, course materials, and online and face-to-face educational experiences.
Use effective and innovative technology enhanced learning strategies.
Participate in curriculum development and evaluation.
Prepare occupational therapy students through experiential learning courses and experiences (including but not limited to fieldwork, capstone, and IPE activities).
As assigned, advise Occupational Therapy students in their academic progress within the curriculum, including career development.
As assigned, mentor student groups through a Capstone project.

Service (10-20%)
As negotiated, contribute professional/academic expertise to the university or community.
Serve as a member of committees or in leadership positions on departmental and collegiate standing committees (e.g. admissions, curriculum, student affairs, admissions, promotion and tenure).
Serve as a member of the Rehabilitation Science Graduate faculty within two years
Mentor junior faculty in research and scholarship

Hiring authority: Dean, College of Pharmacy
Supervisor: Department Head, Occupational Therapy

Required Qualifications:
Earned doctorate from an accredited and USDE-approved program (e.g., PhD, OTD, PPOTD, EdD) by the time of hire
Initial certification as an occupational therapist
Current or eligible for Minnesota state license for Occupational Therapists
Expectation to travel between sites (Twin Cities & Rochester) to teach course curriculum, lab, and fieldwork experiences
Expectation to travel between sites (Twin Cities & Rochester) to attend in person faculty meetings and trainings, service related activities and other in person events as assigned by department

Preferred Qualifications:
A line of ongoing and/or funded research that aligns with the priorities of the department, University, the American Occupational Therapy Foundation, and other external funders of rehabilitation research (e.g., PCORI, NIDILRR, NIA, NICHD, NIMHD, NIAMS, etc.)
Evidence of scholarly activity including research-based publications and funded grants
Documented expertise in one or more of the following: grant writing, qualitative research, assistive technology, occupational therapy for adults and older adults, mental health practice, and fieldwork supervision, specifically in psychosocial settings
Evidence of successful teaching of occupational therapy practitioners or students
Evidence of skill in online teaching and in-depth knowledge of the hybrid approach to teaching & learning
Evidence of strongly-developed team skills including work in committees and interprofessional research teams
History of mentoring PhD students, postdoctoral trainees, and/or junior research faculty
