University of California Irvine Cancer Genetic Counselor-Health Sciences Clinical Series The Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, UCI School of Medicine seeks to hire four full-time Board Certified Genetic Counselor to join our clinical and academic faculty of ten clinical geneticists and ten genetic counselors. The Division provides outpatient care and inpatient consultation services to a diverse patient population in the cancer, prenatal pediatric, metabolic and adult genetics clinics at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center and our affiliated hospitals. Division faculty members also participate in didactic and clinical training of genetic counseling graduate students, residents and fellows, medical students, and other trainees, provide community outreach, and many are actively involved in both clinical and basic science research. This position involves providing cancer genetic counseling at the UCI Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and other UCI Health sites, where you will join a team of genetic counselors, medical geneticists, and cancer specialists who provide care for a diverse population of patients. Areas of focus will include the high-risk colorectal program, and the breast and ovarian cancer programs, as well as patients with a variety of other referral indications. Academic activities include supervision of genetic counseling students and other trainees, thesis mentorship, didactic teaching, and opportunities to participate in clinical research. About the UC Irvine Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine: The faculty of the Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine currently comprises 10 licensed certified genetic counselors and 10 MD or MD/PhD certified clinical geneticists, some of whom are also certified in clinical cytogenetics, clinical biochemical genetics, and/or clinical molecular genetics. We are home to one of the first genetic counseling graduate programs and to ACGME-accredited clinical genetics and genomics categorical and combined residency training programs. The Division provides inpatient consultation services and outpatient care in pediatric, cancer, metabolic, prenatal, adult, and specialty genetics clinics at the UCI Medical Center and our affiliated hospitals. Division faculty members are actively involved in clinical, translational, and basic science research.
