The Vice Chair for EM Research will be responsible for supervising, guiding, and promoting all clinical and basic science research activities in the Department of Emergency Medicine. The Vice Chair will, in conjunction with the Chair and faculty, develop and direct the implementation of the strategic plan for research in the Department of Emergency Medicine. The Vice Chair will serve as the primary contact person for research issues for faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, other depaetments, and outside entities. The appointment is for five years, with an annual performance review conducted by the Chair. 1. Associate professor level or eligible; 2. Extensive experience in biomedical research, with previous grant support, a significant number of original research publications and national recognition for excellence in a research area; 3. Experience in administration at a unit or departmental level; 4. Experience in guiding and mentoring junior faculty, fellows, resident physicians and medical students in research activities; 5. Ability to build collaborative research relationships with other academic departments in the medical school and at Brown University, in government, and in the biomedical industry; 6. Professional recognition within national organizations; 7. Full time and core faculty member in the Department of Emergency Medicine; 8. Board Certified in Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine; 9. Eligible for Rhode Island Medical Licensure as well as clinical privileges in Emergency Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital.
