Responsibilities
The Railroad Switchman will be responsible for monitoring switch points to ensure proper alignment and monitoring track condition to ensure safe operation. The Switchman will also be responsible for coupling and uncoupling air hoses between railcars and replacing broken 75lb railcar connectors.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of rail experience desired
- Switching or conductor experience preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to always follow safety requirements and practices
- Reliable, punctual and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 75lbs
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs both off and on railcars
- Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening.
- The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. Use of cannabis is strictly prohibited. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen.
