As an intern at our company, you'll gain hands-on, real-world experience alongside industry-leading professionals during the 10-week program. The Intern - Compliance opportunity will allow a student within their junior or senior year of a Bachelor program or higher with a concentration in business, economics, finance, information management or technology gain exposure to Compliance Risk Management System. The Compliance Intern will assist the Central International Compliance Team with, including but not limited to, management of compliance risk data (governance, capture, aggregation, and analysis), control framework testing, implementation of technology and the enhancement of reporting detailing the key performance indicators of Core Compliance Programs and Framework and other projects as assigned. The Compliance intern will have an opportunity to work with international compliance program which governs five countries in which GM Financial operates.

Job Duties:
  • Provide support for the governance and oversight of International Compliance Risk Management System. This includes performing tasks related to Core Compliance Programs and Framework such as Management & Board Reporting preparation; independent Compliance Control Framework testing; supporting the Issues and Regulatory Change Management processes and enhancing the Compliance tools/applications which support Compliance governance activities (i.e. Acrher, Fusion and SharePoint).
  • Assist with other Compliance Risk Management deliverables as assigned.
  • Contributes to team effort by completing special projects as needed
  • Collaborate with local compliance teams within the various countries supported by Central Compliance team
  • Assist with adhoc projects as needed


Qualifications

  • Junior status or above and in good standing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required, this incumbent will be required to assist with developing and giving presentations and communicate with business leaders
  • Experience in using the Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) package
  • Analytical thinker that can assist with investigating complex issues, present recommendations and develop solutions
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently or across multiple teams
  • SharePoint and Proficient Excel experience a plus
  • Spanish or Portuguese language is a plus
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of Leadership.

Working Conditions:

Must be able to commit to work 40 hours for 12 consecutive weeks during the summer (5/21/2025-8/8/2025)
  • Must participate in all GMF sponsored events for interns.
  • Hybrid Work Model (Minimum of two days in the office)

In 2011, GM Financial acquired FinanciaLinx to serve GM dealers and customers throughout Canada.  In November 2012, GM Financial announced the acquisition of Ally Financial Inc.’s international operations. The majority of those acquisitions were finalized in 2013, with the remaining market, a 35 percent equity interest in a joint venture in China, acquired in January 2015.  In October 2017, GM Financial completed the sale of its European financial subsidiaries and branches as part of General Motors’ sale of the Opel and Vauxhall businesses to Peugeot S.A.

 

GM Financial provides auto finance solutions to 14,000 dealers worldwide, with earning assets of $93 billion at September 30, 2018.
