Job Description:
The Guardian Technology Operations Center (TechOps) is seeking a highly skilled Technologist to develop, implement, and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure the continuity of critical business operations in the event of an emergency or disaster. The ideal candidate will have experience in risk management, business continuity, and IT infrastructure, with strong problem-solving and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have extensive operational support experience.
Qualifications:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES
- Develop and Implement Disaster Recovery Plans : Create, test, and maintain disaster recovery (DR) strategies and plans, including recovery procedures for critical systems and applications.
- Risk Assessment and Business Impact Analysis : Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities and determine the impact of various disaster scenarios.
- Coordinate with Stakeholders : Collaborate with IT teams, business units, and management to develop comprehensive DR strategies and ensure alignment with business continuity plans.
- Testing and Simulation : Regularly test disaster recovery plans through simulations and drills, identify gaps and recommend improvements to enhance recovery capabilities.
- Document Management : Maintain detailed documentation of disaster recovery processes, policies, and procedures. Ensure that all documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant personnel.
- Compliance and Auditing : Ensure that all disaster recovery plans comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and policies. Prepare for and participate in audits.
- Training and Awareness : Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate employees on disaster recovery procedures and their roles during a disaster.
- Continuous Improvement : Monitor and analyse the effectiveness of disaster recovery strategies and processes, and make necessary adjustments to improve response and recovery times.

This position reports to the TechOps Team Manager
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Functional Skills
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Continuity Management, or a related field.
- Experience : 3-5 years of experience of advanced System Administration/ Engineering/ Support. Experience with disaster recovery, business continuity, risk management, or IT infrastructure failover.
- Technical Skills : Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including networks, virtualization, servers, cloud environments, and data centers. Experience with backup and recovery solutions.
- Analytical Skills : Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex scenarios and develop effective recovery plans.
- Communication Skills : Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills : Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
