This position leads a program of projects and supports other significant efforts related to business objectives. Responsible for the leadership and manages the day-to-day operations of a Real Estate Capital Construction Program; directs, develops, and motivates a team of integrated individuals (internal and/or external) to meet program objectives that assist in the attainment of the Real Estate Departments’ strategic plan. Responsible for the development and administration of capital construction program plans ensuring consistent alignment with department strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development and administration of capital construction program plans ensuring consistent alignment with company strategy.
  • Provides support for project-level activity which includes project analysis, project scheduling, project development and execution in accordance with overall project governance requirements and policy & procedure.
  • Assists in the leadership and management of day-to-day operations of Construction Services Remodel/Renovation program.
  • Manages project budgets aligned with overall plan.
  • Reports project and overall program status to Enhancement Leadership.
  • Gathers key information from project team to monitor project schedules to ensure plan attainment. Manages multiple schedules simultaneously.
  • Monitors established project guidelines, sets goals and measures team performance, reporting project and overall program status to leadership and senior management.
  • Accountable for decisions that impact project scope, timeline, and budget.  Serves as a methodology advisor to business leaders.
  • Provides monthly and quarterly status reports on capital projects and special project efforts.
  • Develops and implements (post-approval) annual enhancement plan.
  • Represents the Segment on the Incident Management Team - Code D project management efforts.
  • Provides feedback and direction in the development and implementation of process improvement steps to increase efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Oversees all aspects of existing unit rebuild development projects through pre-design, design, construction execution, and turn-over.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction or any equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Experience: 

  • 6+ years of construction management experience, preferably in restaurant industry

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and Visio (as applicable)
  • Proficiency in Workday (as applicable)
  • Ability to communicate, influence, and negotiate decisions while motivating assigned staff
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Professional Certification: 

  • Project Management Institute Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • Construction Management Association of America Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification preferred

Working Conditions/Travel Requirements: 

  • Expected to work the necessary time to satisfactorily fulfill job responsibilities
  • Must be able to report to work timely and as required by operational/business needs
  • Must be able to work a full-time schedule and work outside of normal business hours when necessary
  • Must be able to travel occasionally both locally and long distances (including air travel), to worksites, meeting sites, and other locations
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, submit to releasing a Motor Vehicle Record that adheres to the Whataburger standards and maintain current automobile liability at minimum levels in their state of residence
