Job Summary and Qualifications



  • Our Progressive Care Registered Nurses raise the bar by providing clinicalexpertiseand the highest quality care, in the most compassionate way. As an RN on an Intermediate Care Unit, you can expect to provide healing to patients needing a higherlevel of skilled nursing care than on a Medical Surgical floor, but do not need an intensive level of care in the ICU. We are an amazingteam,that works hard to support each other and are seeking a phenomenal addition, like you, who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do.



    PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
    ·All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.
    ·Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.
    ·Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period.
    ·During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).
    ·Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital.
    ·Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy.
    ·Seasonal Staff willnotbe eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND, D2/ECD, and D3/EVD)
    ·Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.
    ·Current FT/PT & PRN Level 3 employees are not eligibleto join the Seasonal program for 2023-2024 with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year.
    ·Current employees of HWS arenot eligiblefor the seasonal program.
    ·Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department.


    What you will do in this role:



    • Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.

    • Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.

    • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.

    • Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.

    • Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.





What qualifications you will need:



  • Texas State RN license or compact license required. 


  • Dip/ADN required; BSN preferred. 

  • BLS required by AHA or ARC, ACLS required by AHA or ARC with the exception of new nursing graduates must obtain within 90 days of hire. 

  • Specialty Certification Encouraged.

  • Minimum one year of Critical Care Experienced or Completion of Critical Care Internship Program Preferred

  • Professional Nursing Organization Membership Encouraged

  • 1-2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit
