Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Respiratory Therapist / Respiratory Therapy Department.

In this role, the successful candidate administers respiratory modalities to patients of all age groups in accordance with prescribed medical standards, and only upon a written, verbal or telephone order. Performs technical duties in conjunction with the operation and maintenance of respiratory care equipment. Provides supervisory oversight and reviews for the blood gas laboratory in absence of a supervisor.

Job Responsibilities:


    • Provides basic and advanced respiratory services to infant, pediatric, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. Performs routine respiratory clinical care including medication administration, arterial puncture, and initiation and monitoring of oxygen therapy.

    • Performs other duties as assigned

    • Provides Lab oversight and review of clinical data in absence of supervisor.

    • Performs blood gas analysis and maintenance as required. Troubleshoots instrumentation as required. Performs annual proficiency sample analysis when assigned.

    • Reviews patient's medical records and orders. Accurately and completely documents therapeutic and diagnostic interventions and observations in the electronic charting system.

    • Participates in multi-disciplinary clinical rounds to obtain and communicate relevant clinical findings and observations.

    • Performs critical care duties including the initiation of, management, and discontinuation of mechanical ventilation, non invasive ventilation, endotracheal intubation and extubation airway care and attendance at announced cardiopulmonary and trauma resuscitation, as well as Rapid Response team deployments.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify, you must have a Associate's Degree American Medical Association Approved Respiratory Therapy Program. Current New York State Respiratory Therapy (RT) License. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS). Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills. Knowledge of ventilator management, oxygen therapy, blood gas analysis, blood gas laboratory regulations, endotracheal intubation, aerosolized medication administration, non-invasive ventilation..
Preferred Qualifications:
Current registration from National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) AND Registry (RRT).
3 - 5 years Current Respiratory Care clinical experience.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $106,932.80 - $116,854.40 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
