Translational Molecular Biomarkers (TMB) is responsible for the development and execution of clinical biomarker assays across all therapeutic areas and all phases of clinical development. TMB laboratories leverage a diverse array of technologies to develop biomarker assays to help confirm engagement of therapeutic targets and understand mechanisms drug action and patient response.

The Molecular Pathology team within the TMB organization is seeking a highly motivated candidate to join us to work with our teams on tissue-based biomarker assays that will help guide therapeutic programs.

Qualifications
Education Minimum Requirement:

  • MS or PhD (currently enrolled) in a life sciences discipline (Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Pathology, Cell Biology, etc.).


Required Experience and Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Self-motivated and eager to learn and evaluate new technologies.

  • Hands-on experience in histopathology-based assays (IHC, mIF, ISH) and digital image analysis.

  • Proficient in working with microscopy - brightfield and fluorescent high resolution/large images and file formats.

  • Familiar with tissue morphology.

  • Skilled in using statistical software packages (e.g., Prism, SPSS).

Responsibilities:
  • We are seeking a highly motivated intern currently enrolled in an MS or PhD program to join our Translational Molecular Biomarkers (TMB) - Molecular Pathology team. The candidate will work under the guidance of a TMB Scientist. The ideal candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly communicate scientific objectives and interpret data. Additionally, the candidate should have a strong interest in Translational Sciences, along with a willingness to learn histopathology-based assay development and digital image analysis. This individual will play a role in assisting with the development of histopathology-based assays and exploratory biomarker analysis supporting clinical trials.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform automated IHC/mIF/ISH assays to generate images for digital pathology analysis.

  • Utilize various commercial image analysis software packages (e.g., Visiopharm, HALO) as well as non-commercial software packages such as QuPath to conduct digital image analysis.

  • Develop software algorithms (using AI, if necessary) to detect specific sub-cellular staining (e.g., cytoplasm vs. membrane) and tumor/stroma segmentation methods.

  • Identify a suitable digital image platform for accurate analysis of IHC, mIF, and ISH staining.

  • Utilize the optimized software algorithms to perform digital image analysis of exploratory biomarker assays.



Under New York City, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:

$39,600.00-$105,500.00
