What you will be doing
This person will lead the product management for "Product (Omni Item and Vendors) Merchandising Sub Pillar" and report directly to the Director of Product Management. She/he will define the product vision and roadmap for "Product" sub pillar to achieve the business KPIs. She/he will be responsible for collecting and interpreting user research and data, conceiving innovative products, creating a robust product roadmap, and managing the product lifecycle. The right candidate will be a strategic and ambitious visionary with the proven ability to deliver products that create impact and deliver exceptional value to our associates, vendors partners who are deeply focused in serving our guest shopping omni channel. This leader should be highly motivated to succeed and influence his/her team and stakeholders to do so, in an approachable manner, that engenders trust and confidence at all levels across the organization.
The Merchandising Product Management Department has an opening for a Senior Product Manager - Omni Item Prospecting. This position is located in Dallas, TX (preferred location) or in Pleasanton, California (on exceptional basis only).
The salary range is $118,100 to $ -$165,380 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.
Main responsibilities
- You are a product manager with experiences designing successful products and experiences preferably in merchandising domain areas (Omni Item Master Data, Vendor Master Data )
- You have experience of building data products handling large enterprise multi domain datasets, metadata management, and data models.
- Your adept at Publishing standards (JSON, APIs, Kafka, Data Modeling) and can independently work with engineering teams across the enterprise.
- You have experience in governance of master data/ meta data specifically for retail item and retail vendor.
- You have demonstrated skills in identifying solutions that solve a customer (merchant, CPGs, and customers) need using data to inform your direction
- You have strong product sense (ability to define the "why" before the "what" and "how") and a keen understanding of what makes for an excellent user experience
- You prioritize early releases (MVP/MLP) establishing clear tradeoffs on customer experience, quality, technical debt & time to market
- You have experience with early-stage solutions and technologies, preferably in merchandising domain, with hands on skills to produce product management artifacts (Product Fit Hypotheses, Customer Discovery Insights, Product Roadmap, User Stories & OKRs)
- You have developed user stories that are ready for consumption by a technology team with clear acceptance criteria (scenario or rule based)
- You have proven track record of establishing rapport, credibility, and influence with cross functional teams (business, technology & operations) to achieve results
- You have experience with processes (scrum, backlog grooming etc.), frameworks (agile, SAFe etc.), and tools (Confluence, JIRA, MS planner etc.) that increase velocity, improve quality, and ensure transparency
- You are an autonomous self-starter, taking full ownership of your work and ensuring that it meets the expectations of the team, product requirements, and engineering architecture
- You are an excellent storyteller and communicator
- You are both an individual contributor and a team lead (ability to mentor junior product managers & creative design managers)
- To be successful in this role, you must have a strong customer obsession, strategic mindset, critical thinking, bias for action, data savvy, visual storytelling, technical proficiency and comfort to alternate between modern cloud native tech stacks to legacy mainframes and SaaS.
- Must have Retail Merchandising and/or Supply Chain knowledge, being an SME in Omni Item Management/ Item Master / PIM domains, Vendor Management domain knowledge is an added advantage.
- Must have deep experience of building and launching complex custom merchandising and/or supply chain product platforms for a Fortune 100 companies.
- You are driven by passion to solve challenges in way that it will create an competitive advantage to business in serving our omni channel customers.
- You are someone who can Think the big picture but not afraid to also roll up sleeves to solve what's right in front in short duration while keeping focus on longer term strategy and value.
- You should have demonstrable track record for innovation and produce value at cross sections of people, process and technology, with empathy for end users.
- You would have embodied the Agile philosophy by its intent, always iterating and improving on the process with an purpose and not just for sake of adhering to the ceremony.
- You are highly analytical with the ability to traverse between strategic business decisions and their quantitative implication.
- You are a strong Oral and Visual communicator who can help dissect and visualize the complexities in simplistic fashion.
- You are comfortable to operate in the complete spectrum of product and program management, be the visionary as you set the course and be the navigator as you execute the vision.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, engineering, business, or related. Masters Preferred with preference to MBA.
- Minimum of 7+ years' experience in product management, management consulting or technology
