Patient Support Services Lead Department Description The role of this position is to act as a liasion between the Lift Technicians, Menthal Health Workers, Patient Transporters, Special Duty Caregivers, Telesitters, Dispatchers, Volunteers and Leadership. This position will help to coordinate room safety sweeps, communicate MH patient updates to the supervisors on duty, respond to crisis MH patient escalation requests, conduct staff engagement rounding, and provide break relief for staff when appropriate. Apply By 9/21/2024 at 11:59pm. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Experience leading a team or an equivalent combination of education / training. Must receive CPR certification within 3 months of employment and maintain current. Experience safely operating wheelchairs, gurneys, electric beds, cribs, and special beds. Required University-provided training and testing (i.e., lift equipment/assistive devices, proper body mechanics, etc.) within 3 months of hire. Required University-provided training and testing Code Blue Training within 3 months of hire. Required University-provided training and testing Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training within 3 months of hire. Required University-provided training and testing Maintaining the Dignity of Morbid Obesity in the Hospital Setting within 3 months of hire. Skills to lead a technical team and to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Skills related to organizing, scheduling and assigning work, training and input to leadership on team work performance Strong knowledge of patient care support activities. systems, external regulations. and internal policies. Knowledge of Fair Labor Practices, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and University policies and procedures. Demonstrated analytical experience with the ability to identify, analyze, report and resolve problems accurately and timely. Knowledge and ability to exercise discretion, use good judgment and maintain confidentiality. Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Solid interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants, and outside agencies. Experience conducting group and individual training sessions. Ability to maintain composure, respond calmly, and use sound judgment during medical emergencies. Knowledge of and experience safely operating safe patient handling equipment including lifts, friction reducing devices, powered and non-powered patient equipment. Knowledge of proper body mechanics and patient transfer techniques. and skill to transfer patients without injury to self, patient or others. Knowledge of and ability to follow appropriate Infection control techniques to safeguard other patients and visitors from infected patients. Knowledge of CPR. 02, IVs/pumps, feeding tubes/pumps, foley bags, and chest tubes. Experience in recognizing and reporting problems with life support equipment or a sudden change in a patient's condition. Strong computer skills including EMR, e-mall, PC based programs, and MS Word and Excel applications. Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units or departments. Skilled in written and verbal communication, with the ability to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to produce a variety of reports and analyses. Experience preparing reports, memorandums and documents. Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language. Ability to use a calculator and possess basic math skills. Ability to maintain a culture that values diversity, respect and accepts the contribution of others, and supports open communication. Skills to perform CPR. Judgment skills to make independent clinical decisions. Skills to work accurately and quickly under pressure. Knowledge of legal implications for clinical practice. Organizational skills to provide direct supervision to licensed and unlicensed employees. Ability to appropriately use available resources (personnel and equipment/supplies) to ensure that the patients on a specific unit receive safe, appropriate patient care during the course of a shift. Ability to coach and mentor employees, promoting teamwork and encouraging professional development. Ability to appropriately share and exchange information. The unit also provides information and assistance to patients, visitors, hospital staff, and the public. Dispatchers provide front office management and administrative support by performing a wide range of administrative, and operational duties critical to the Patient Support Services operations.
