SUMMARY

Mortenson is seeking a Prevailing Wage Supervisor that will lead a team providing prevailing wage support to multiple teams overseeing completion of a construction project. This individual will serve as a key liaison between Finance department and the project team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise prevailing wage departmental staff to ensure efficient and effective departmental performance including
  • Supervise the processes related to prevailing wage reporting and compliance to ensure timely and accurate completion of activities. These include but are not limited to:
    • Management of daily workflow activity
    • Ensure compliance with all reporting and contract requirements as it applies to prevailing wage
    • Utilize performance and operational metrics to manage work and identify areas of improvement
    • Effectively escalate issues with clear understanding and applicable constraints with a proposed resolution path. Interact effectively with senior management with clear and concise communications.

  • Develop, maintain and educate/train others on departmental procedures & company policy
  • Keep abreast of best practices related to prevailing wage compliance and reporting while maintaining the knowledge necessary to develop department goals, programs, and retain professional competence.
  • Subject Matter Expert on Prevailing Wage.
    • In consultation with legal, payroll and human resource support, oversee the administration and interpretation of prevailing wage requirements.
    • Participate in company projects and company initiatives as required
    • Research, assess and develop recommendations based on best practices
    • Support lean innovation

  • Build effective business relationships within Mortenson to support the needs of the business as it relates to prevailing wage reporting and compliance.
    • Function as the internal consultant on prevailing wage and its impacts to Mortenson
    • Conduct formal training on all related topics within payroll, the projects or others as needed.

  • Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
  • Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent experience in project accounting
  • Professional certification highly preferred (CPA, CCIFP, CMA)
  • Minimum seven years of related experience
  • Experience with Prevailing Wage and LCP Tracker Preferred
  • Positive attitude and professional customer service skills
  • Ability to understand complex construction business concepts
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as an ability to work on multiple projects at a time
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to internal and external customers
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
