Job Profile Summary
Under general supervision of the Coding Supervisor, the Inpatient Coder supports Dayton Children's goals for reimbursement through accurate and timely diagnosis and procedural coding of inpatient, observation, and outpatient surgery records. This includes the examination and interpretation of the electronic medical documentation to assign and report the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes for the services provided for clean claim submission.

High school diploma/GED required
Associate or bachelor's degree preferred
Experience
1-2 years coding experience required
3-4 years coding experience preferred
Pediatric experience helpful
Certifications
CCS required or must obtain within 6 months of employment
RHIT/RHIA or eligible preferred

Knowledge of automated workflow applications and processes
Computer skills
