The Opportunity:

You will be responsible for planning, organizing, and completing process trials for the Board Machine and Pulp Dryer areas along with providing technical and analytical support. You will also be responsible for creating and maintaining data analysis reports of Board Machine process capabilities and quality. You will support the investigation of customer complaints and development of new products. You will report to the Board and Market Pulp Group Leader in the Technical Department.

How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:

  • Determine and implement Board Machine and Pulp Dryer process changes and / or trials to improve operating efficiency and performance and minimize variation
  • Perform daily checks of production output and contributing factors
  • Provide analytical support, problem-solving and troubleshooting related to operating processes
  • Drive continuous process and quality improvement within an operating area
  • Develop PiVision pages to capture insight into processes and equipment and maintain the Daily Management System Scoreboards for the area.
  • Track and analyze data related to any trials, changes, and continual production information to inform recommendations and decisions
  • Assist with ISO compliance audits and findings
  • Assist with entry of Safety Data Sheets and chemical approvals


  • What you need to succeed:

    • Engineering Degree

    • Fundamental understanding of mill processes

    • Good oral and written communications skills, highly skilled in group communication as well as one to one communication. Ability to determine effective and appropriate means of communication.
