The Associate Director, Global Trade Customs Investigations will assess compliance with global trade internal policies and customs regulations and, where appropriate, coordinate responses to the relevant government customs agencies. The selected candidate will serve in Collins’ Central Global Trade team within the Legal, Contracts and Compliance function and will report to the Director & Assistant General Counsel, Global Trade. 

What You Will Do:


  • Evaluating, via interviews and document review, alleged violations of global trade internal policies and customs regulations.


  • Drafting responses to US customs agencies, including CF 28 inquiries and CBP penalties and liquidated damages claims.


  • Managing an active caseload, consistent with internal and US Government deadlines, using RTX’s matter-management tool.


  • Working collaboratively with members of Collins Aerospace’s broader Global Trade team to identify the root causes of violations and to develop robust corrective actions.


  • Briefing RTX and Collins Aerospace leadership on status of ongoing global trade customs investigations.


  • Supporting customs audits or assessments at Collins Aerospace sites in the US and abroad.


  • Reporting on Collins Aerospace internal and US Government data requests.


Qualifications You Must Have:


  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience 


  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required 


  • 5+ years experience with export controls (ITAR/EAR)


  • 5+ years experience with customs agencies


Qualifications We Prefer:


  • Prior experience in global trade investigations.


  • Experience drafting disclosures and/or responses to US government or customs agencies


  • Aerospace or manufacturing industry experience.


  • Ability to collaborate cross functionally and identify potential trends or issues.


  • Prior experience with root cause corrective actions

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles* will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.  

*This position is remote; however, if you live within a reasonable commute of a Collins site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
