The Role:
Our site in Burnet, TX is seeking an Analytical Operations Lab Manager to join our team. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, strategic planning and technical projects of our Analytical Lab in Burnet, TX. In line with our PACE values, you will collaborate cross-functionally with technicians, scientists, engineers, leadership, sales, marketing and global technical teams to provide high quality, reliable data to the manufacturing team and other stakeholders.
What You'll Do:
- Ensure lab has the proper resources and processes to report data accurately and timely to meet factory production schedules
- Instill safety culture in team to meet goal of zero recordable injuries.
- Recruit and hire new team members.
- Provide feedback, mentor and develop team members to help them meet their career goals.
- Provide training and training plans for team members.
- Work with Quality team to ensure all quality best practices are being implemented. LTS, SPC charts and MSA requirements are tracked and completed on time.
- Meet instrument uptime goals by ensuring we have the necessary trouble shooting skills, we provide timely maintenance, and PMs are completed on time.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with site Quality, Engineering, Operations, and R&D teams to support analytical requests and transition new products into production environment.
- Provide technical support to CQE, MQE, Product Managers and other customer facing teams
- Manage lab expenses to meet plant budgetary goals.
- Develop processes to improve lab capacity, efficiency, and reduce waste
- Support audits (internal and external) as needed.
- Support ISO-17025 accreditation program
- Assist in Strategic Long-Range Planning to support factory 5-year roadmap.
- This role is on-site in Burnet, TX and supports 24x7 manufacturing facility.
What We Seek:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in chemistry, physics or engineering or related field required, M.S. or Ph.D. preferred.
- At least 5 years of relevant operational laboratory management experience as well as additional years of hands-on laboratory experience
- Solid knowledge of analytical chemistry, materials science & physics required. Familiarity with semiconductor device materials, structures, and metrology preferred.
- Working knowledge of lab instruments operations and analysis. (HPLC, IC, GC, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, FTIR, NMR, STA, XRF)
- Ability to create and manage project plans and timelines, define project deliverables, assign project team roles and resources, identify and track issues and their resolution, and manage project scope, creep, and requirements.
- Familiarity with Good Lab Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices
- Proficient in data analysis, statistical methods, and quality management systems.
- Knowledge of proper controls for analytical instrumentation, SPC, stability, accuracy, variation, and method uncertainty and GR&R required.
- Understands customer quality requirements and expectations and works to meet those goals.
- Hands on experience with applicable quality tools such as pareto, FMEA's, SPC/SQC, histograms, trend analysis, process mapping, design of experiments, cause and effect diagrams, 8D problem solving methodology required.
- Ability to wear the required PPE when working in the labs (safety glasses, face shields, lab coat, steel toe boots, cleanroom garments etc.)
- Prior experience managing people and working w/ global teams
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to obtain buy-in from all stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, organizational skills, and written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Flexible, internally driven individual that can support fast paced, constantly changing environment and a multitude of priorities
- Ability to travel occasionally. Max 1x per quarter.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of LIMS applications (Labware, SampleManager)
- Knowledge of software systems used in analytical laboratories (Chromeleon, OpenLab, etc)
- Good working Knowledge of ISO 17025, and 90001 standards.
- Prior experience managing laboratory services in a chemical / gas manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with handling corrosives and air-sensitive chemistries (liquid and solid materials) in support of three major product lines (Deposition, Cleans and CMP).
