The Langley Porter Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy Unit provides a full range of services for patients cared for by the Department of Psychiatry, as well as its faculty and staff. These services include, but are not limited to, drug procurement, storage and security; safe, accurate, and timely medication preparation and distribution of drugs; clinical pharmacy services for patients; development of drug uses policies within Langley Porter Hospital and Clinics; drug information services for clinicians and patients; investigational drug services to researchers; and participation in technology assessment and quality assurance programs. All Pharmacy Technicians are accountable to the supervising pharmacist or operating pharmacist who is legally responsible by virtue of state licensure for the care and safety of patients served by LPPH Pharmacy Unit. The Pharmacy Technician II Per Diem performs all activities related to traditional pharmacy prescription dispensing and medication distribution. They may also participate in the computer entries of medications and prescriptions, including those for investigational drug studies. Under the supervision by a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II, Per Diem is assigned operational duties consistent with duties and responsibilities of a career Pharmacy Technician II. Specialized duties include, but not limited to activities such as handling of controlled drugs, completion and processing of billing and requisitions, filling of the automated medication dispensing system. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role. For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
