Medical City Plano is looking for a PRN experienced neonatal intensive care unit speech-language pathologist to join our team. A Certificate of Clinical Competence and at least one year of NICU experience is required, with MBSS and FEES experience and neonatal therapist certification preferred.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Speech Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered care by developing and conducting individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing impairments. As a member of the health care team, the Speech Therapist performs comprehensive patient assessments and establishes appropriate treatment goals. The Speech Therapist serves as an educator to patients, families, students and colleagues.

What you will do in this role:


  • You will conduct a subjective assessment of assigned patient’s speech language abilities during spontaneous conversation. You will administer objective tests to assess patient’s communication assets and liabilities.

  • You will structure and implement individualized patient program to improve communication abilities.

  • You will evaluate patient regularly during treatment and adjust program as needed to maximize patient progress.

  • You will document progress in patient’s chart. You will complete notes, charges, discharge notes and patient communication.

  • You will consult with Program Director and Rehab Physician/Medical Director regarding pre-screen assessments and physician consultations to determine appropriate placement of potential patients.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date


  • Texas Speech-Language Pathologist Audiology License


  • Masters Degree


  • 1+ years of NICU experience required

  • MBSS, FEES experience preferred

  • neonatal therapist certification preferred
