Business Intelligence Developer - Power BI - Remote - Military Veterans

Overview
The Business Intelligence Developer collaborates with various team members and operational departments to develop internal and external reporting tools and gather/analyze requirements using industry best practices. They will work extensively in both ad-hoc and standard reporting packages and be involved in creating reports and dashboards that are scalable with large volumes of data.
Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards to support business intelligence needs.
  • Transform raw data into actionable insights through interactive and user-friendly reports.
  • Integrate data from various sources into Power BI using SQL queries and Dataflows to provide comprehensive insights.
  • Manage data connections, data models, and transformations within the Power BI environment.
  • Collaborate with data owners and stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure data integrity.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and manipulate data for reporting purposes.
  • Utilize Power BI Dataflows to prepare and transform data for analysis.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot dataflows to ensure continuous data refresh and availability.
  • Support senior team members in implementing data governance practices and defining security, permissions, and data access controls within Power BI.
  • Help create visually compelling and insightful reports that provide valuable insights to decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, business stakeholders, and IT professionals, to understand business outcomes and solution requirements.
  • Assist in optimizing processes to improve efficiency and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Support performance tuning of semantic models and reports through DAX and Power Query M code optimization.
  • Implement performant data modeling solutions using all types of Power BI storage modes.
  • Monitor platform utilization and assist in capacity management and growth planning.
  • Complete all responsibilities as outlined in the annual performance review and/or goal setting.
  • Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ working experience in both oracle and SQL Database environments.
  • 5+ years of experience developing reporting products/solutions using Microsft Power BI, MS SQL Server (currently 2016 or above), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • 4+ years of experience building visually appealing reports in Power BI (or other BI reporting tools).
  • 3+ years of experience in working with the Microsoft Fabric platform outside of Power BI.
  • Experience working with Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • Advanced Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Fabric, AI, Copilot, and model. deployment using GitHub.
  • Hands-on experience in oracle and SQL & Query optimization, working in RDBMS and Data Warehousing (ERD and Dimensional modeling).
  • Experience Modeling data in Power Bi Sematic Modeling.
  • Experience working with APIs using Python.
  • Experience with Scrum framework and Agile methodology.
  • Experience with CICD frameworks and common DevOps practices.
  • Experience working in an onsite-offshore model.
  • Experience in Working in other BI solutions such as Tableau, MicroStrategy and Business objects.

  • Learning Agility: Willingness and capability to quickly learn and apply new BI technologies and methodologies.

  • Collaboration: Working well with other teams, including IT, data analysts, and business units, to align BI strategies with organizational goals.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Must be able to provide high-speed internet access / connectivity and office setup and maintenance.
  • Must be able to provide a dedicated, secure work area.
  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.
Base compensation ranges from $110,000 to $130,000. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
