We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Lagging Shop. This position specifically is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for a Planner, the work schedule is 06000-0245.

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description)


  • The shop planner is responsible for developing (prepare/write/revise), issuing and distributing assigned planning documents, procedures and work items in accordance with all applicable instructions, directives and procedures.

  • POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training/Experience)


  • Typically has a BA/BS in a related field, or AA/AS plus two (2) years directly related experience, or six (6) years directly related experience.
  • Must be familiar with working in a naval ship yard environment and be able to work aboard marine vessels, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must possess expert ability to effectively communicate with other disciplines or groups and resolve planning conflicts.
  • Must possess the ability to read drawings, blueprints, standard items, and specifications of work items.
  • Must have a working knowledge of NMD Planning and Execution Modules.

  • WORKING RELATIONSHIPS


  • This position reports to shop supervisor or foreman. This position develops and maintains a positive working relationship with others and supports a team approach in the pursuit of common company goals.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct Ship-Checks as required
  • Integrate, review and validate planning process with primary parties and government affiliations on a weekly basis to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare advanced planning reports for dissemination to government for processing
  • Conduct meeting to inform key personnel of planning updates
  • Work closely with Estimators to ensure all information is represented appropriately to produce an integrated planning schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Regular reliable attendance onsite is an essential function of this position. Must have reliable transportation. Must qualify for a DBIDS badge. Must be able to access all work locations, including government and private ship yards and/or vessels. Must have reliable record of attendance and punctuality and be available for overtime as required. Must be able to physically transit all areas of the facility. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or control, and to talk and hear. Must have good eye/hand coordination. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be familiar with working in a naval ship work environment and be able to go aboard marine vessels and the drydock, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment. These areas can be dirty, dusty, hot or cold, and noisy
